Now Offering Classes for 4,5 & 6 Year Olds

M Avery Designs is now offering crafting classes for 4, 5, & 6 Year Old's on Saturday Mornings. Kids will learn how to trace patterns, how to cut fabric & felt, how to hand sew using plastic sewing needs and embroidery floss, as well as basic design & construction skills used in making the described crafts.

Each one hour class will be project oriented and each student will leave classes with their finished projects. There are only 10 spots per session.

$40 for the series of four classess + One Parent Volunteer Help Day
(Each parent is asked to choose one class per series to help with instruction)

If there is space, you may register on a class by class basic for $15 per class. Please note, first priority will go to students registering for all four classes in the series.

Young Stitchers Invited to participate in Fashion Show

Little stitchers are invited to design, create and model their very own purple purses!

Students of the M Avery Designs Sewing & Design classes will be creating purple purses to model in the "Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse" Fashion Show during the October 24th, 2009 Matinee Showing put on by the Mile Square Theater.

Each fashion show participant gets a free ticket to see the show and then gets to walk the runway to show off their very own purple purse creation.

You can work on your purple purse designs on your own or at the M Avery Designs Fashion Lab Afterschool classes.

In honor of Wenlan Chia’s new book, Twinkle Sews: 25 Handmade Fashions from the Runway to Your Wardrobe, we are holding a contest to see your best A-line skirt.

The A-line pattern available, Twinkle Sews book, or can be downloaded by visiting BurdaStyle.com. Submissions must be received by October 14th, (11:59 pm EST). Create your variation of the A-Plus, A-Line, and kindly send a photo to submissions@burdastyle.com with the header “A-Plus, A-Line”. Submissions will be put into a slideshow where, Wenlan Chia, founder and designer of Twinkle by Wenlan will then pick her three favorite creations.
Three winners will be chosen:

Welcome Hoboken Handmade Collective!

What has been the M Avery Designs Studio & Boutique is now sharing their space with the Hoboken Handmade Collective.

We'll still be teaching our classes, hosting our parties and selling our wares at 266 7th Street in Hoboken, but we'll be selling our things along side of SO many other great designers.
