Found my book in Austin Tx!

I have been spending my holiday time in Austin Texas this year and for fun wanted to check out if the local Borders Book Store was carrying my book...

Hooray, we found the book! And just cause I was so excited to have found it, we took a little photo for posterity!

I then, of course, put it in a much more visible location on the shelves!

Megan was a Guest on Martha Stewart Sirius Radio Show

On November 21st, Megan Avery was lucky enough to be a guest on the "Morning Living" Martha Stewart Radio Show on Sirius Satellite Radio.

It was pretty cool, since Megan is just a little smitten with Martha. She didn't get to talk directly to her, but just being in the "Martha" presence was quite an experience.

If you missed the interview live, you can listen to it here.

Make your Own bags - Absolutely no SEWING required!

Just saw this awesome project on the Martha Stewart show.

The publisher of my upcoming book"Bag Bazaar" is Potter Craft, which is a division of Random House. Apparently they also published the book of the author that is being featured on this episode of the Martha Stewart Show. Her book is called book author of another great book

Simply Sublime Bags: 30 No-Sew, Low-Sew Projects

and you can check out the video on the Martha Stewart website.

I am quite impressed at the durability of the bags, considering they have not used a sewing machine at all to create it! All they are using is fabric (with this cool vinyl like covering, which I had never seen before! ) staples, and duct tape! I might have to use some of these techniques in a workshop at the studio some time in the near future!

Fashion Lab Boot Camp Fall 2008 - Student Project Portfolios

We just finished up our very first Fashion Lab Boot Camp and all seven students went from being complete sewing newbies to fairly proficient on the sewing machines. In the five week class that met twice a week, each student completed headbands, clutches, two zippered cosmetic bags, a cute camp, lounge pants and a tweed cropped jacket. Here are the students in the class and their finished projects. Click the photos to scroll the different projects each student made.
